- Drought Tolerance: High.
- Pests/Diseases: No serious insect or disease problems.
- Growing Conditions: Suitable for containers with good drainage. Root network is shallow, so a deep pot is not required. Sedum is a great groundcover. Plant preferably in spring about 8 inches apart in full to part sun. Water moderately until established, then quite drought tolerant. Will fill in quickly and can spread where unwanted, but easily thinned. Tolerant of sandy soils with low fertility.
- Characteristics: Small, lime green-leaved succulent on low growing, vining stems. Blooms with a small yellow flower in spring. Sedum dies back to the ground in cold climates but returns in the spring. It is evergreen in warmer climates.
- Propagation: Propagates easily from stem or tip cuttings and can also be divided. Division best done in spring.
- Wildlife: Deer resistant, flowers attractive to insects and small pollinators.
- Facts: Tough, low maintenance plants, but due to their succulent nature, do not tolerate foot traffic. Very easy to grow, and almost maintenance free once established.
- Designer Considerations: Useful as a groundcover or in a rock garden, sedum will cover a bare area and cascade over rocks and walls in a very attractive display where unusual color and texture add interest.
