New enhancements take root at the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens

March 21, 2023: In a few days, the installation of the final enhancements to the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens will be complete and residents are invited to explore the 20-acre nature preserve’s new additions. The fence installation is expected to be completed by March 24, 2023.

Major improvements have greatly enhanced the Port St. Lucie destination. New elements include:

  • A pair of 10-foot-wide rolling chrysanthemum-decorated handmade gates at the main entrance,
  • A stunning 8-foot butterfly decorative gate at the beloved butterfly garden,
  • A new sidewalk,
  • Synthetic turf around the lily pad seating area,
  • A 2,000-square-foot concrete pad inside the Secret Garden,
  • An 8-foot-tall ornamental picket fence and three ornate gates.

“We’re excited to be providing upgrades for our residents to enjoy,” said Sherman Conrad, Director, Parks & Recreation. “Botanical Gardens is a beloved space that offers a resource for people seeking a deeper connection with nature to feel inspired and at-one with the natural surroundings.”

Beginning April 1, the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens will have new operating hours, Sunday noon - 5 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and closed on Mondays. With the new addition of the gates, access to the gardens will be limited to these hours of operation.  While adjusting to the entrance times, nature lovers are encouraged to explore the many alternative trails and parks within the City. Try visiting these hidden gems, from 8 a.m. to sunset:
