  • Soil/PH/Texture: Tolerates a wide variety of humus enriched, well-drained soils from sandy loam to clay loam; roses live best in a pH range of 6.0-7.2 with 6.5 being the ideal for optimum growth and flowering. (pH outside of this range causes loss of nutrients which has a detrimental effect of roses.)
  • Soil Moisture: Normal to Moist (moist without being soggy) and well drained.

  • Growing Conditions: For first time rose growers this is an easy to grow rose that is also rewarding. Remember to prune early to promote new growth, pruning is particularly important with roses.
  • Characteristics: This deciduous rose plant is an upright, vigorous, well-foliaged bush with leaves that are medium – dark green, glossy, and ovate, with finely toothed edges. The fragrant showy blooms are very full, deep pink, deeply cupped, 41+ petals, large 4” – 5” in size, quartered with a button, appear in Spring – Fall and bloom repeatedly.
  • Propagation: by stem or tip cuttings, grafting or budding.

  • Facts: Hybridized in France in 1841 by Jean Desprez.
  • Designer Considerations: used as an accent bush, as borders along a pathway, can train to climb trellises, arbors, etc., container plants on your patio, and of course as cuttings for a bouquet or for drying.
